Arrange cartoons and other pictures in a logical sequence.

Sort, categorize, and characterize word lists.

While reading a story, stop before you’ve finished and predict what will happen next.

Stay in or Come Out…

June 2, 2007

Let me get this out in the open right off the bat…I am a lesbian.  There, that was easy.  haha.  Okay, lets continue…

I started a job about three weeks ago and I do really like it.  But something was said in a conversation the other day that has been bothering me because I couldn’t say what I wanted to say.  The conversation was on the lines of marriage.  I was talking to a co-worker about deciding when I was 16 years old that I didn’t want children and never wanted to get married.  And it was what she said that has been bothering me.  She said to me that I just haven’t found the right man yet.  Well, I couldn’t come right back at her and tell her that I don’t want a man, I want a woman.  There was just no way I could say that to her.  Just from working there for the last three weeks, I have noticed that most of them are very homophobic.

Today, a conversation took place that I started to say something but couldn’t.  We were talking about how our personalities have changed over the years.  I told them I use to be very shy.  They didn’t believe me.  I told them yes, up until about 10 years ago, I was a shy person.  What I couldn’t tell them was that was when I finally admitted to myself that I was gay.  I had tried to hide it for 35 years.  I had a couple of relationships with women, but I just thought I was bad and needed to change.  So when I came out to myself, my attitude toward things changed.  I was so much more open and happy.  And then you couldn’t get me to shut up.  You still can’t  haha.

So this is my story for the day, and I’m sticking to it.  I moved away from a small town back east to live my life the way I feel is best for me.  But I still can’t be myself even here.  I am still partially in the closet and probably always will be.

It’s funny how life works

May 11, 2007

It’s funny how life works.  I am the youngest of three and there is a big age difference between my sister and my brother.  There are 13 years between my sister and I and 11 years between my brother and I.  I felt like I have been an only child most of my life because of this age difference.  But now, as I have grown older, I seem to have caught up with my sister and brother.  I don’t even feel like there is an age difference at all.  In the last 2 years, I have gotten to know my sister.  I moved to Las Vegas where she has been living for over 30 years.  I have always wanted to live here from all of the visits I have made in the past.  So now I am here and I don’t feel like I am an only child any more.

Well anyway, my sister and I have gotten very close these last few months.  She has been there for me when times have been rough.  She also has a son, his name is Adam and he is 15 yrs old.  What a fantastic young man he is turning out to be.  I love this boy like he is my very own.  I have no children, but that is another story for another time.  As I am close with my sister, I am also very close with Adam.  He got his driver’s permit in December and in Nevada, he has to have a certain amount of hours behind the wheel before he can take his test.  So, Adam and I take road trips every weekend.  Sometimes my sister goes along, but every trip I go with him, we have a great time.  I love spending time with him and having some really very good conversations with him.  He is a really smart guy and I am so proud of him.  I am really looking forward to going driving with him this weekend.  I never know where we are going to go.  Last weekend, we ended up going to California for a cheesburger.  I love him so much and love spending time with him.  I love my sister too and am so glad that I have gotten to know her.  I will stop rambling on now and end this entry.  I will write about my adventure with Adam when I get back.

I Don’t Know Why??

May 10, 2007

Why am I sitting here crying??  I don’t know why.  I am starting a great job on Monday, making more money than I have ever made in my life, I have a great apartment, my health is getting better and I have tons of friends.  So why on earth am I sitting here crying?  I don’t even know why I am typing this in here where everyone can see it.  For some reason I feel pressure to add something here.  I have been putting it off for a long time.  So what am I putting in here?  I am crying.  Geez, what a great way to start out a blog.  I had an old song in here for the longest time and deleted it because it was way to depressing.  But then, hell, I am sitting here crying.  Hmmm, wonder if there is a connection?
